The Joy of Exfoliation (History)

Posted by Sam Gomez on

Here at Nopalera, we value the importance of daily rituals.

These daily rituals can include making your morning cup of coffee, going on a walk, doing your skincare routine and so much more. For us, it’s stepping into the shower and taking this time *uninterrupted* to relax and unwind. We like to upgrade our routines with a luxurious exfoliating scrub.

It’s amazing to think how a simple step such as exfoliating dates back thousands of years to ancient civilizations.

Ancient Egyptians were the first to practice exfoliation. They used various methods such as the dry body brushing technique and used pumice stones. Also, using sour milk to renew the texture of the skin. While Native Americans exfoliated using dried corn cobs and Ancient Greeks and Romans exfoliated using a curved blade called a “strigil”.

Now we have access to so many exfoliating scrubs. At Nopalera we offer the Cactus Flower Exfoliant in two scents, Mandarina and Hibiscus. Our vegan exfoliators act as a 3-in-1 oil cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer. Additionally, our scrubs are soap-free which means your skin will feel silky soft (no need to apply moisturizer afterward). While Nopal Oil cleanses and hydrates the skin.

The typical usage is twice a week since these are natural exfoliators it's gentle enough for daily use. The joy of exfoliation doesn’t end in the shower! Our scrubs can be used on your face AND as a lip scrub. Men can also use the exfoliants under their beards and doubles as a moisturizer to prevent dry flaky skin.

Happy Exfoliating Amig@’s !!
