How To Keep Skin Moisturized In Cold Weather

Posted by Sam Gomez on

As we transition into colder weather, having a good skincare routine becomes crucial for our skin. Winter can impact our skin by causing dryness and flakiness. But don't worry, amig@! There are plenty of ways to combat these issues and keep your skin healthy even when it's cold outside!

AGUA, AGUA AGUA!

It’s important to drink plenty of water for your health and skin. When you’re dehydrated, your skin will look dull, dry, and tired. Drinking enough water helps your body flush out toxins, keeps you hydrated, and gives you soft, supple skin. Life can get hectic but always take the time to stop and grab a glass of water. Make sure to bring a reusable water bottle everywhere with you so you can nourish your body with water throughout the day.

Establish a skincare routine.

Dry air, cold weather, and central heating can dry out your skin. When it comes to establishing winter skincare, it's all about hydration! A great skincare routine will help prevent dry and flaky skin on your face or body as well as keep your skin moisturized and supple throughout the coldest months of winter. When selecting products for your winter skincare routine opt for all-natural nopal-based skincare products (also called prickly pear). The key here is to find what works for you and stick with it as much as possible.

Gentle Cleanse

Cleansing the skin is an important part of any skincare routine. We recommend using a gentle soap for cleansing your skin as it won’t strip away moisture or leave behind any residue. It’s important to use a gentle, clean-ingredient soap that is suitable for your skin type. Soaps with natural ingredients are best, as they will not dry out your skin. Here’s a guide for our signature cactus soaps if you’re having trouble deciding which to choose:

Noche Clara (black soap): Good for oily / acne-prone skin.

Planta Futura (green soap): Good for all skin types.

Flor De Mayo (pink soap): Good for sensitive and dry skin.

Desnuda(white soap): Extra Sensitive Skin.

Our signature cactus soaps are ideal for all skin types and can be used on the whole body and face. They’re handmade with plant butters and oils that cleanse and leave your skin moisturized instead of drying out your skin. Here at Nopalera, we want to nurture and care for your skin. We do not use synthetic fragrances in our soaps. Perfect for those with sensitive skin and noses! Each of our cactus soaps offers a uniquely subtle scent.

Noche Clara (black soap): Subtle scent of eucalyptus and sage oil brings clarity of mind.

Planta Futura (green soap): Subtle scent of lemongrass oil to calm the mind and plan for tomorrow.

Flor De Mayo (pink soap): Subtle scent of jasmine oil.

Desnuda (white soap): Completely unscented. It is perfect for those who have extra sensitive skin and noses.

Don’t forget to keep your soap well-drained and away from running water. We recommend storing it in a soap dish, draining rack, or soap bag to get the most out of your products!

Exfoliation is key.

Exfoliating will help you get the most out of your winter skincare routine. Dead skin build-up can lead to dull skin and exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the skin’s surface. Exfoliating regularly will help your skin to regenerate itself giving you brighter and healthier skin which is exactly what our skin needs during these colder months.

Our Cactus Flower Exfoliants provide gentle exfoliation which makes it perfect for daily use. Also, great for use on the face and body. It’s a three-in-one oil cleanser, exfoliant, and moisturizer that leaves your skin feeling silky and soft. We offer two Cactus Flower Exfoliants, Mandarina and Hibiscus.
